Brian’s daughter lives in Colorado Springs, and we are taking a trip to see her. I find it interesting that Brian lived there before returning to Arizona.
Ten years ago I had put a deposit down on an apartment in the Broadmoor area of Colorado; I was a single mother living in Orlando, Florida and had decided to take the leap to move west. Arizona hadn’t occurred to me until my best friend proposed choosing somewhere warmer so she could move too. I know it seems silly, but at the time she was size zero and could barely handle the winters in Virginia where we are originally from. I knew Colorado would be too much for her, and I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to have my best friend on my big adventure, so, knowing only one person in Arizona, I reached out and he agreed to show us around for a weekend. Of course, we visited in February, so it was hard to deny the beautiful weather and dreamy mountain scenery. Ten years later and the two of us are still living here. She married the friend I who showed us around and our boys are now partners in crime.
It’s fun being able to still visit Colorado; It was the first place I went out west. Since then I have been all over, including Utah, California, Washington, Idaho and Oregon. If you’re ever in Colorado Springs, I recommend the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Cave of the Winds, Garden of the Gods and The Royal Gorge Bridge. There’s so much to do! What was your favorite family trip?
