What’s with this COVID hell? It’s definitely a soul sucking situation and really puts a lot of things into perspective. When things clear up, I want to focus more time on saying yes to new experiences to make up for all the no’s I’ve had to say lately. There’s so much negativity floating around these days. I prefer to fill my time with things that I look forward to.
I realize that not everyone thinks it’s worth getting up at five in the morning to catch a sunrise pic at the top of a summit, but ask yourself how many times you’ve said yes compared to how many you’ve said no? If quarantine has taught us anything it’s that we need to explore more when we have the chance!
I’ve also been having a blast with my family. Even before quarantine I’d carry a deck of UNO in my purse and whip it out at random times. The UNO tradition has continued and tomorrow we are going to make a pineapple upside down cake.
It was my Grandma’s favorite. I laughed earlier thinking about my conversation with her when she made it last. She said it was better than sex. That bite of cake would be the final time I will ever get to enjoy something she made from scratch. She passed last week. I’m not ready to discuss the loss of someone so crucial in my childhood, but I am ready to share a piece of cake with my kids.
My grandma’s loss sparked me to get back into writing. It’s my passion, and I won’t lose sight of what’s important again. If there’s anything that brings you happiness…something legal…find time for it. In the end, I don’t want to have regrets on the things I didn’t do. What about you?
